Appointment of CEO

31 January 2013

Fairfield Energy, the North Sea focused independent Oil and Gas Company, is pleased to announce the appointment of David Peattie as CEO effective March 1st 2013.

David Peattie, B.Sc (Hons.) M.I.M.M. C. ENG, has spent thirty four years working for BP in a wide range of both technical and executive positions.  He joined BP in 1979 as a petroleum engineer, working in a series of technical positions in the North Sea.  He also gained experience across a wide range of hydrocarbon provinces, including China, Australia and Papua New Guinea.

In 1987, he was appointed a commercial analyst, based in BP Exploration’s offices in London. In 1993, he moved to Belgium where he negotiated the sale of BP Nutrition.  Following this, in 1995, David became Business Unit Leader of the Algeria / Southern Europe Gas Business.  After a period running the office of Lord Browne, BP’s former CEO, David spent three years as Head of Investor Relations, leading teams across London, Frankfurt and New York.  In 2001, David was appointed Group Vice President and Executive Committee member of BP’s Petrochemicals business. Responsible for BP’s businesses in Asia, he was also Commercial Director for the Segment. Following this, in 2003, he became Group Vice President, Group Planning.

In 2005, David returned to Exploration and Production as Group Vice President and in 2007 became a member of the E&P Operating Committee, and operational deputy to the E&P CEO.  In this role, he had specific responsibility for driving Segment level projects and for the team of Technical Vice-Presidents.

In September 2008, David was appointed as Head of BP Russia.  He was responsible for BP’s interests in TNK-BP as well as its businesses in the Russian Arctic and Sakhalin.  He also served on the board of TNK-BP including as Chairman of the HSE Committee.

Commenting on the appointment Ron Emerson, Chairman of Fairfield Energy, said:

“On behalf of the Board I am delighted to welcome David Peattie as CEO of Fairfield.  He brings a wealth of experience born from a long career within the oil and gas industry and we are very much looking forward to his stewardship of the business as it continues to grow.  David joins at an extremely exciting time for Fairfield. With a group of supportive shareholders we are well capitalized, we continue to make extremely good headway in the development of our existing portfolio, and have a world class team throughout the organization.  All these factors combine to make Fairfield’s a very compelling story for the months and years ahead.”

“I would like to give a considerable vote of thanks to Chris Wright, the retiring CEO. He has been critical in positioning Fairfield over the past 2-3 years, and it would be difficult to over emphasize the contribution he has made.  He has deftly led the business to this key point and he hands the reigns over with the company in its strongest position since its founding seven years ago.”
