Clipper South Platform Installed Successfully

2 September 2011

Fairfield Energy, the independent oil & gas exploration, development and production group, is pleased to announce that the installation of the jacket and topsides for the Clipper South gas field has been completed successfully. The 1900 tonne topside has been designed to optimise recovery of tight gas from the Permian reservoir at Clipper South. The field will be developed through the drilling of five horizontal wells each with multiple hydraulic fractures. The drilling campaign is due to start in October 2011 to deliver first gas in early 2012. Gas will be exported via 12” pipeline to the LOGGS system operated by ConocoPhillips. Fairfield holds a 25% interest in Clipper South along with Operator RWE Dea UK SNS Limited (50%) and partner Bayerngas North Sea Ltd (25%).

Commenting on today’s announcement, Fairfield’s Chief Executive Officer, Chris Wright said:

“The installation of facilities at Clipper South is a major milestone on the path towards unlocking the potential of this significant gas accumulation. We look forward to the next phase of the project when hydraulic fracturing technology will allow us to produce gas from tight Rotliegend sandstone to a platform designed specifically to optimise the process.”
