Assistant Accountant
My Background
I left my native Zimbabwe to come to the UK in 2002 and immediately joined Fairfield which, at that time, operated under the name Acorn Oil & Gas. Back then there were only seven employees. This country has become my home - I’m raising my children here - and Fairfield has become my second family.
Joining Fairfield
The Company was only six months old when I joined the Finance Department as an Accounts Assistant. We worked in a very small office in Staines before moving to slightly larger premises. Since then Fairfield has grown significantly and now has offices in both Staines and Aberdeen. Fairfield was like a small, tight-knit family when we began and since then we’ve put together an absolutely fantastic team.
From an accounting point of view, our responsibilities have grown rapidly. When Fairfield took over the Dunlin field, we all experienced the leap to a much bigger operation and I’ve personally enjoyed being part of that growth story.
As Assistant Accountant, I help manage cash forecasting for the whole group, handle the billings for the Crawford joint venture,help with the month end reconciliations and I am starting to help prepare the month end accounts. I also recently assisted in implementing a new accounting system and I am delighted that I have been asked to become a Super User so that I can help my colleagues during the transition and beyond.
Fairfield is such a caring company with very good values. It really considers its people and their families, and senior management have guided it in this positive direction. Basically, we’re just a really great team of people!
