Contracts & Procurement
What the team says...
The remit of the Contracts & Procurement function is to ensure that all goods and services are procured as efficiently and effectively as possible with the objective of maximizing the value which the supply chain delivers, both onshore and offshore. The team, along with Fairfield’s technical groups, are responsible for tendering and negotiating a wide variety of contractual agreements and ensuring that the most appropriate goods and services are secured for Fairfield’s assets.
Fairfield’s team of qualified Contracts and Procurement personnel, in conjunction with user groups, manage the Company’s Drilling, Engineering, Subsea and associated service function contracts. The team also work in partnership with the Amec supply chain team who manage the Dunlin asset’s Operations contracts and purchasing requirements. This partnership with the duty-holder assists in maintaining effective operations on the Dunlin asset.
By developing a streamlined, yet effective contracts and procurement system, and by utilizing industry standard documentation wherever possible, Fairfield has been recognised as an industry leader by Oil and Gas UK. The team was presented with the Supply Chain Code of Practice Tiered Compliance Gold Award in December 2009, which was assessed according to supplier feedback ratings. This is a very gratifying achievement for a smaller team such as the one at Fairfield.
Brian Brown, Contracts Manager comments, “Here at Fairfield, we follow the recommended supply chain guidelines as established by Oil and Gas UK. This means we are dedicated to utilising the Industry standard tender formats and standard Logic Terms and Conditions, as well as providing continual feedback to companies and meeting agreed payment terms. We adopted this philosophy to ensure that the contractual process would be streamlined, standardised and effective. Although challenging, this commitment to streamlined processes has resulted in positive recognition for Fairfield and by treating the supply chain fairly, promptly and with integrity, we are developing strong commercial relationships that generate significant benefits for both parties. An effective supply chain is critical for the delivery of Fairfield’s growth aspirations.”
