| JOB PURPOSE: | Reporting to the Dunlin Area Subsurface Manager, the Principal Production Geologist is responsible for providing strategic and technical direction and oversight for all geological activity in the Dunlin Area and for oversight of all operational geology (well planning and delivery) activity in Fairfield Energy |
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to the development of the Dunlin Area Plan which seeks to maximise the remaining resource development in the Dunlin Area, ensuring the geoscience activity in support of the Area Plan objectives is well represented
- Working with the Dunlin Area Subsurface Manager and Principal Petroleum Engineer, manage the development and execution of in-house and contracted geologically focused work programmes to develop, assess and prioritise the full Dunlin Area resource
- Plan and implement production related geological data gathering and evaluation as required during production activities through close liaison with the well services team
- Assist in the planning, management and delivery where appropriate, of geological work programmes and studies to deliver subsurface models
- Ensure rigorous assessment, quantification and communication of geological risks and uncertainties to team members and Management
- Provide management and technical oversight of operational geological activity associated with new well planning, drilling and well logging for all Fairfield operated assets
- Participate in technical peer reviews and other technical meetings
- Provide support to the Dunlin Area Subsurface Manager in any business related negotiations and meetings. This will include partner meetings, both technical and commercial
- Present to Management and JV Partners when appropriate on all aspects of the role
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum BSc in Geology with post-graduate Geological qualification preferred
- Significant technical experience in the upstream oil business including some time spent within an Operator, to include North Sea experience and preferably including Brent province experience
- Significant experience of well planning and operational geology associated with drilling activity, including well log data programmes, log analysis and post well evaluation and reporting
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- Superior technical skills in Petroleum Geology with a strong understanding of related subsurface discipline
- Ability to deliver detailed original technical results whilst contributing to overall project objectives
- Good business awareness and planning skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively represent the Company
